Patricia Val

Since she was a young child, PATRICIA always dreamed of being a performer whether it was in modeling, acting or singing. Born on June 28th PATRICIA was raised in Tampa Florida to Haitian parents. She started singing at the young age of 9 while attending Wharton Senior High School in Tampa. Later she learned how to play the Viola and also took up Band where she played the Trumpet and sometimes the Piano.

Although Patricia did not practice these instruments much longer, she continued her focus on what she loved doing best which is singing. Throughout the school years, she continued to take up chorus and performed in school shows. After graduation from High School, she attended a semester at The University of South Florida also located in Tampa. Then, she moved to Miami to attend Florida International University where she studied marketing and practice networking in the music scene while earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

While in College, she wanted to focus on music, acting and modeling. She started out doing runway modeling in Miami and in the Caribbean. PATRICIA was signed to a modeling agency that landed her an opportunity to participate in the Ford Supermodel of Jamaica competition and in a Brazilian Bikinis Miami Fashion Show. She has also done a series of various print works for hotels and hair products.

In 2008, PATRICIA who went by the name of Patri Val was featured on Reggae albums such as Sizzla Kalonji’s Addicted album, reggae / Dance hall artist Spragga Benz’s Prototype album and Mad Bwoy Anju’s (Upcoming Artist out of Jamaica) on a tune that featured artist Kevin Lyttle.

In 2010, PATRICIA played a major role in a short film called Mary Jane that premiered in Miami and she participated in feature work in hit TV series Burn Notic. During that same time, she started working in the Haitian Music Industry with talented Haitian artist Nickenson Prud’homme.  She recorded three demo tracks that introduced her to the local music scene. She performed Live at the Compas Festival in Bay Front part with Robert Charlot. She also performed at the Blackbird Ordinay, Nutrifest Festival in downtown Miami and The Jazid in South Beach. Lately you can find her every Monday night at Purdy Lounge in South Beach with the band named JeanPJam.

During the ensuing three years, PATRICIA stayed busy, touring consistently. Today, she is focusing on promoting her new single “Tek Tegedek” part of her upcoming album and keeping it versatile by including different genres of music like Pop, Rhythm & Blues, hip hop / rock mix, Trance, Dance and Soul.  And, indeed, passion as expressed through her music has been the essence of what has made Patri who she is today, an artist with an abiding, deep commitment to lyrical honesty and musical integrity. Simply put, if PATRICIA feels it, she writes and sings it. While vivid imagery, metaphor analogy are her stock in trade, there’s no pretense, no hiding. She’s upfront, always real, using her own distinctive poetry to breathe life into words, digging inside to bring forth the accompanying emotion.
